My Sierra Bear

And finally finishing up this year of birthdays and birth stories is Sierra (or Bear as we call her)! The forgotten 2nd child (as she calls herself). My easiest baby, my hardest toddler and my loudest teenager! She really is a dream!

We actually started trying to get pregnant within a couple months of having Marina. We wanted so badly to have kids close in age and figured it would take us a bit. After 4 months of trying and when Marina was 8 months old, I got pregnant! We were so excited! Immediately Chris said that if it was a girl, he wanted to name her Sierra, after the mountain range. I hated it! It was too common and just not something I liked. Later that day while at Costco, Chris pointed at a mans shirt in front of us in line. The shirt had a company name on it called, Sierra Marina Boat company and was located in Lake Tahoe (Chris' favorite spot). From that moment on there was no convincing him of any other names. Trust me I tried!!!

At our 20 week scan we were unable to …

The one who made me a Mom, Marina

Well somehow it happened, I'm now the Mom to a legal adult. When they say it goes fast, they weren't lying. I feel like she was just born 5 years ago and yet it feels like we've always been together.   So this is the story of how I became a Mom.

The big guy and I got married in August and immediately started trying to get pregnant! Much to our surprise 2 weeks later I took a pregnancy test and it was positive! We were so excited! I was 18 and really didn't have any thoughts except sheer joy! We made our 1st appointment and saw our sweet babies heartbeat! We bought little gender neutral clothes and started dreaming about our future!  During the 2nd week of October at 11 weeks, I started bleeding. I knew exactly what was happening and was crushed. We went to the doctor where it was confirmed we were losing our baby. Over the next couple days through tears and physical pain I lost our little gift. It was so traumatic! I didn't even know miscarriages were a common occ…

My Kricket (aka Krysta)

My Kricket! My 4th and final child, lol! I remember the day I found out I was pregnant with her like it was yesterday, in fact my husband still talks about how I randomly called him while he was at Office Depot and told him. I'm pretty random so it's really not that shocking. I found out I was pregnant with her when Trinda was 6 months old, at 15 months apart they are my closest gap. Being that we already had 3 girls, I was really hoping she would be an girl and was so excited that she was. I had a pretty tough pregnancy with her as it was my 4th pregnancy in 4 years. My hip had dislocated during Trinda's birth and I hadn't completely recovered. I had to hold tight to the rail everytime I went up and down the stairs because my hip would pop out and I would fall! Yeah, lots of fun! I was scheduled to be induced with her on June 30th as Marina was a July birthday and my husband wanted her to have her own month.

To say we struggled with a name was an understatement! We ca…

The Story of Aurelia

If you've followed my blog you know that Aurelia was a complete surprise! She was conceived 10 years after my husbands vasectomy. I was ecstatic! When he had the procedure, I didn't feel like I was done having babies. I was a little mad at him for doing it. The universe must have been paying attention, because my little miracle girl is one of the biggest blessings in my life. She is turning 3 this month, so as tradition goes here is her story.

While I was completely shocked to find out I was pregnant, I was also extremely excited! I immediately started thinking about the kind of pregnancy and child birth I wanted. While the experiences of bringing my 1st 4 into this world were beautiful, they were also less than what I wanted. I despised my previous OB and didn't have a current one. I made an appointment at one of my friends ob's. Once we arrived, it all felt so sterile. They took us back for a quick ultrasound to confirm pregnancy, then put us back in the waiting roo…

My flower girl
Trinda, where do I begin? Lets start with her name. Chris and I take forever to agree on names. Marina was the name I loved and Sierra was his favorite name. When we found out we were having our third girl, I got the baby name books out (the internet was foreign to me back then) and started looking. My husbands contribution to baby naming has always been yes or no! I spent months searching for the perfect name that we could all agree on. One morning Marina (who was 3 at the time) woke up and told me that she dreamed the baby's name was Trinda. I immediately loved it. I called my husband and he loved it as well. I then went thru every book I owned and couldn't find it anywhere. Years later I found it on a Swedish website and apparently it means pure.

My pregnancy with Trinda was the same as the 1st 2, exciting and uneventful! I was induced with Marina and Sierra for different reasons and my husband wanted me to be induced with Trin too, since it was "pre…
